On Oct. 10, 2023, Father Mike Schmitz and thousands of priests, nuns, and laity walked the streets of New York City in a large Eucharistic procession.
Sponsored by the Napa Institute, Catholics are invited to again participate in a Eucharistic procession with a first-class relic of Blessed Carlo Acutis on Oct. 15, 2024, through the streets of Manhattan, New York. This free event at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral is open to everyone.
This year's procession will also involve the veneration of a first-class heart relic of Blessed Carlo Acutis.
Archbishop Domenico Sorrentino of Assisi said the relic is a "fragment of the pericardium of Blessed Carlo Acutis."
"The pericardium is the membrane that surrounds the heart," he said. "It is beautiful and fitting that this reminds us of the heart of Carlo, inflamed with love for the Eucharistic Jesus."

The event at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral will include two opportunities to venerate a first-class Blessed Carlo Acutis heart tissue relic. There will also be a Holy Hour, confession, recitation of the rosary, the celebration of the Holy Mass, a Eucharistic procession on Manhattan's streets, and Benediction.
Archbishop Paul Coakley of the Archdiocese of Oklahoma City will celebrate Mass, President of the University of Mary Msgr. James Shea will present the homily, and Bishop Joseph Espaillat and Cardinal Timothy Dolan of the Archdiocese of New York will lead reflections and Benediction.

The first Napa Institute Eucharistic procession took place in 2021 and began with 100 people. In 2023, the procession with Father Mike Schmitz grew to 5,000 Catholics.
