The Bishop of the Philippines warns the faithful about supporting a "self-proclaimed Pope"... they will face the risk of being excommunicated.
Bishop Jose Rojas Rojas, Bishop of Libmanan Diocese, Chairman of the Doctrine of Faith Committee of the Philippine Bishops' Conference, warned that the faithful will be excommunicated for supporting and participating in celebrations, including The whole liturgy, presided over by a man calling himself... Pope Michael II. Bishop Jose Rojas Rojas said he is not a Catholic priest.

Martinez, 53 years old, was born in the Philippines and is a member of the heretical group Sedevacantism. He was "elected" as "pope" in a "conclave" in Kansas, USA on July 23, 2023, taking the title is Pope Michael II, successor to Pope Michael (real name David Bawden) who passed away last August. (Mr. Badwen is a former member of the Fraternity of Pio All Popes since the death of Pope Pius Mr. Badwen is said to have named the group “Vatican in Exile”; the group has about 100 members.)

Bishop Bantolo said Rogelio Martinez, the head of a schismatic group, is not a Catholic priest. He told UCA News on September 4, 2023: “They are not in communion with the Catholic Church. He is not a Catholic priest, therefore, cannot become a Bishop, or even more, a Pope.”

Local sources confirmed that since arriving in the Philippines on August 1, Mr. Rogelio Martinez has visited Catholics, attended religious gatherings and presided over Mass. Images on social networking sites showed him declaring himself "Supreme Pope" of the Catholic Church, in San Jose del Monte City in Bulacan province, north of Manila, at one of the events.

Sedevacantist heretical groups claim that the Church has been vacant since the death of Pope Pius sect and apostasy. They believe that the Popes after Vatican II were all false popes.

From the point of view of the Sedevacantism sect, because the Catholic Church is empty and the popes are all fake, there have been no legitimate cardinal appointments since 1958. Because there were no legitimate cardinals left before 1958. 1958 to carry out the conclave of cardinals, so Sedevacantists considered themselves the right to organize a conclave to elect a new pope to succeed Pope Pius XII, filling the vacant seat of the See of Peter.

Ms. Christina Penaranda, 43 years old, a Catholic who follows the heresy of Sedevacantism, said that she supports Pope Michael II because "the Pope in Rome is not the real Pope."

“We call ourselves a Church because it is based on the Bible. We are the true Catholic Church because the Vatican II sect in Rome is not the true Church.”

Penaranda said she and her children joined the “Vatican in Exile” group in 2017 and now pledge allegiance to Pope Michael II.

Penaranda added: “We are Catholics, but the authority of the church belongs to Pope Michael II, so we welcome him. This is his church.”

Father Ranhilio Aquino, seminary professor and legal expert said:

“All such schisms must be resolutely opposed. There is only one Pope. His name is Francis, successor of Pope Benedict XVI, successor of Pope John Paul II
