World-renowned Argentinian soccer player Lionel Messi trended on social media over the last few days.
Recently, an excerpt from a resurfaced interview with the 36-year-old World Cup winner went viral.
In his speech, he discusses his relationship with God, why he considers himself very grateful, and reveals that he prays every day.
Here's the inspiring story:
The conversation took place at the beginning of 2023 with Andy Kusnetzoff, from the 'Perros de la Calle' program.
"Do you talk to God?" the interviewer asks.
"Yes, I always talk to him, I thank him, I ask him for everything, for the well-being of my family, [and] my loved ones," Messi responds.
Before the 2022 World Cup, he said in another interview, "I know God will give me a World Cup."
The interviewer then asks, "How did you know?"
Messi replies: "I don't know, I had the feeling that I had kept it to myself and I think I was waiting for the moment and I don't think there was a better moment than this."
"Did you thank him?" asks the interviewer.
"Yes, obviously," Messi responds with a smile on his face.
“I thank God every day of my life, not only for all the achievements He has given me on a professional and personal level, but also for everything He has always given me. Obviously, I can't complain about anything and I can't ask for anything more, because thanks to Him, I have everything and I'm very grateful”.
Here's the clip:
In another interview from 2018, the soccer player says he believes God gave him the gift to play soccer.
"I didn't do anything... It was God who made me play like that, he gave me that gift," Messi says. "Without His help, I would not have gotten anywhere."
