From a rebellious, anti-clerical, pro-abortion teenager to Sister Chiara's Franciscan vocation. Heartbroken, she found peace through saying yes to God and discovering a love that never ends.
Sister Chiara's vocation is a wonderful witness, a true story that shows how God can come to each person and dwell in our lives even when we seem so far away from God and the Church. .
The second child of a family of four, Chiara was born into a devout Catholic family, but soon as an adult, Chiara left the parish and lived a long and rebellious life. received about the Christian values received from parents.
When Chiara reached adulthood, Chiara's mother discovered she was pregnant for the fourth time. Chiara did not want to accept this younger brother and thought it would be best for her mother to abort the pregnancy. Sister Chiara later shared: “When my mother was pregnant for the fourth time, I was very angry because we were all grown up. We were calm. I am very upset, this is a burden for me. In my heart I wanted my mother to abort the fetus. I used to support abortion, protect women's rights."
But when the baby was born, everything changed, as Sister Chiara said: “When my brother was born, there was overwhelming love for him, as if the thought of killing him had not existed in me before. . I am very pampered, my brother has an unalterable place in my life. However this does not go with my life of faith, I am still far from the Church, continuing to oppose the Catholics.”
Chiara's aim was to uncover all the shortcomings of the priests, then use these evidences to discredit Catholics. “When I meet a Catholic, I try to get them into a corner,” said Sister Chiara. Despite living far from the Christian spirit, on Sunday her parents forced Chiara to attend Mass.
“It was a struggle,” Sister Chiara said. I'm so bad. During that time my education continued and I graduated. At that time, my 9-year-old brother was in severe pain and according to the doctor, it could be life-threatening.”
This ordeal made the young girl depressed and desperate, afraid of losing her brother and thinking that because she did not want him to be born, she now had to pay the price. Sister Francis said: “It was the worst period of my life. Not only worried, depressed, but I also feel responsible, I think this is God's punishment for me, because I once wanted to kill her, and now God took her away to say to me: Son have you seen? You wanted to kill your brother, now I'm actually doing it."
For Chiara, it was a very difficult period, a terrible burden on the soul, not knowing what to do. Sometimes Chiara wanted to pray, but how to pray, because Chiara could not stand the repeated words of the Rosary. However, Chiara considers that man can dialogue with God to come to a compromise. Chiara lived her faith in a reciprocal fashion.
“I think with God everything can be bought, just like you do something for me and I will do something for you,” Sister Chiara said. And then I said to God: 'Whoever you are, wherever you are, I ask God to save my brother. I'm ready to do anything, take everything we have, take everything but my brother's life. And I'm willing to do anything in return. Even the thing I hate the most, is going to Catholics. If God intervenes strongly in my brother's life, I am ready to pay the price by going to a Catholic group, young Franciscans."
The Lord answered Chiara: the younger brother was miraculously healed. So Chiara decided to make good on her promise, joining a group of young Catholics that Chiara believed were made up of boring, failed people. At the first time she joined, Chiara was completely outside, did not trust anyone, aloof, said nothing. But then something changed: Chiara marveled at the simplicity of these young people. They are not afraid to recognize their own flaws and weaknesses.
Chiara continued to join the group happily and then decided to go on a mission to Albania to help the little ones and wanted to be useful. There, in absolute turmoil, Chiara experienced a special peace and contentment, the happiness of living in a place of poverty and complete lack of entertainment. Chiara diligently cleaned the chapel, attended Eucharistic Adoration, and there, face to face with God, for the first time Chiara felt God's gaze and love.
When she returned to Italy, everything changed: Chiara attended Mass daily, her relationship with her boyfriend became more complicated, and for the first time the idea of becoming a nun popped into Chiara's mind.
despite fears, stronger, the call became and stronger. With her yes, Sister Chiara now discovers a love that never ends. And experience that fullness is achieved by doing God's will and glorifying Him.
