Giant Virgin Mary Statue Made From Airplane Body

This is the Statue of Our Lady of Peace 'Blessed Virgin Mary' at 'Our Lady of Peace' Catholic Church in Santa Clara, California.

Looking at the statue, few people can imagine and know that the statue was assembled by tens of thousands of pieces of stainless steel, cut from the fuselage of American planes that fought in Vietnam. for a period of 10 years, from 1965 to 1975.

Those are the Skyhawk, F-100 Thunderbird, F-105 Thunderchief, F-4 Phantom, F-111 Aardvark aircraft... once fluttered across the sky of Vietnam..

The statue of Our Lady is a very unique initiative and excellent work of the world famous sculptor Charles C. Parks.

The statue has a height of more than 11m and weighs nearly 3.3 tons.

The statue rises in the middle of the blue sky with the arms of Our Lady open lovingly, sad eyes and a heart full of wounds.

Yes, I am trying to speak to everyone, to each one a call to tolerance, forgiveness, forgetting the past of war in order to live together in a peaceful future.

Searching for documents on Google, I also learned that, from inception to completion, the Church in Santa Clara received prayers from 500,000 Mai Khoi rosaries from everyone in the communion.

Surely, those half a million prayers, those 2 and a half million Our Fathers and Glory Be, those 25 million Hail Marys were not used to cut, to weld, to mound, to build that magnificent statue, but is to fly high thanks to Mother, sending out millions of messages for peace everywhere.
