According to the Mirror , churchgoers first witnessed the strange phenomenon happening with the statue of the Virgin Mary at the Santiago church on the campus of the Catholic University of Honduras last weekend.
In the video captured by the Mass, tears spilled from the statue's eyes before rolling down its cheeks and being wiped away with a tissue by Father Lopez.
Father Juan Angel Lopez confirmed that the scene of the statue "crying" is certainly not a fake, but he does not know what led to this unusual event.
Father Lopez, who serves as pastor at the Iglesia Santo Domingo Savio church in the nearby city of Tegucigalpa, said he had seen the statue of the Virgin Mary in the university's St James' yard in El Paraiso.
“I assume there is no forgery because I know the people who run the church of Santiago. I know the seriousness of the videographer and they won't fake the crying," Lopez said.
