Sister Jeanne and Brother Jean Bodet received a miracle by praying to Saint Joseph
On March 19, 2021, the feast of Saint Joseph, the couple Jeanne and Jean Bodet welcomed the birth of baby Suzanne Joséphine with joy and happiness, because after many unsuccessful pregnancies Jeanne was born. The story of the young couple's desire to have children is a long, painful experience, pilgrimage, invoking to Saint Joseph and giving thanks to God.
In 2017, at the age of 25 Jeanne and Jean Bodet got married after 3 years of being college friends. A month after the wedding, Jeanne became pregnant. The feeling of joy and surprise came to the couple. In fact, they do not want to have children soon, but convinced that this is a gift from God, the couple shared this news with their loved ones. But the fetus was unwell and Jeanne had a miscarriage. Both are sad, but they do not close their hearts.
Seven months after the miscarriage, Jeanne became pregnant again. This time, the couple tried to preserve and were regularly monitored by doctors, but a month later, they also lost their second child. This time, it was difficult for them to face the truth. Heartbreaking questions begin to arise: “Why us? We did everything, and there was nothing wrong with it.”
The third time, Jeanne and Jean continued to welcome life back, but this pregnancy also ended. Physical fatigue is now more than mental and psychological fatigue. However, despite everything, the couple still wants to continue to welcome new life.
In May 2020, Jeanne became pregnant again and suffering followed shortly after. Friends and relatives comfort the couple. One of them invited Jeanne and Jean to go on a pilgrimage to Cotignac, where the church of Saint Joseph is located and according to tradition, Saint Joseph appeared here. The couple received encouragement from a friend: "You will have a weekend in the South and you can entrust your sufferings to Saint Joseph."
The days of pilgrimage have left a deep impression on the couple. “During the journey, I shed tears, and lifted all the burdens,” says Jean. As for Jeanne, the scene of the pilgrimage moved her. “I felt comforted, feeling that I could entrust all my sufferings to Our Lady and Saint Joseph,” says Jeanne.
Lord Jesus, I trust in You!: The Saints' Praise to Saint Joseph
Returning home from the pilgrimage, both felt the grace of transformation. The couple told themselves that they would continue to entrust all their sufferings and misunderstandings to Saint Joseph. The two shared: “We repeated our prayers over and over. Every evening we prayed the rosary, and offered intentions. We ask our patron saints and all the saints who have passed through the history of our lives to intercede for us.” They also did not forget to add a daily prayer intention: Through the intercession of Saint Joseph, ask God to give them children.
A few weeks later, Jeanne became pregnant. Everyone was delighted, but one heavy question came to them: "How long will it take this time?". True to fear, Jeanne had bad symptoms during pregnancy. She had to go to the hospital to be taken care of by the doctor.
Summer is coming to an end and the couple returns to the suburbs of Paris. They continued to pray to Saint Joseph. Jean said: We changed the phrase in the prayer “give us the grace to cooperate in the giving of the gift of life, so that we may see a new born life being given to us.” us", with the phrase "show us what to do in the present moment".
Due to poor health Jeanne cannot go to church, but Jean still regularly attends Masses online and increases her prayers.
At the fifth month, Jeanne was hospitalized because of the risk of premature birth, and despite the distance, the couple remained in communion in prayer. December, Christmas, the last day of the year. "We weren't the ones to sort things out: We knew that this child was truly a gift from God," the two recall.
Jeanne was moved to another maternity ward, she lost weight but the days went by and each month ended up being a triumph. She was allowed to go home. On March 13, the fetus started showing signs of labor. And on March 19, 2021, the feast of Saint Joseph, Suzanne Joséphine was born. Thanks to their sister and mother, the couple realized that on June 19, exactly nine months before Suzanne was born, they had sent a letter to Cotignac to Saint Joseph.
The grace of life
The Lord answered the couple's prayer, and the couple were convinced: “We have received a gift and a mission, to make this miracle bear fruit. We do not own this grace. It is our history, but above all it is the history of God, of His actions in our lives, and for all people. Touching people, simply on different occasions.”
