(Video) Building collapse in Jordan: 4-month-old girl miraculously survived after being buried alive for 30 hours

A residential building in the old town of Amman in the Jordanian capital suddenly collapsed, killing dozens of people. However, a 4-month-old baby girl miraculously survived after being buried under the rubble for 30 hours, which is called a miracle of life.

The incident happened last Tuesday (September 13), when a 4-storey residential building in the old town of Amman suddenly collapsed. Authorities have dispatched more than 100 rescuers to search and rescue. The entire search and rescue operation was carried out last Saturday (September 17). As a result, 14 people died and 10 were injured.

Israa Raed, a 26 year old young mother who is not a resident of the residential area concerned, on the day of the incident she needed to go out for business, so she sent her daughter 4 month old named Malak to a friend who lives in the basement of the building. Unexpectedly, an hour after she went out, she received a phone call saying her daughter had fallen. But when Ms. Raed arrived at the scene, the entire building had collapsed.

Ms. Raed was shocked at what she saw, and she began to scream: "Where is my daughter? Where is my daughter?" 

But Miss Raed believes her daughter will be fine. Intuition tells me that my daughter is still alive," she told AFP .

After 24 hours of search and rescue efforts, rescuers heard the faint cry of a newborn baby under the rubble. After 6 hours, rescuers pulled Malak out of the rubble. 

Ms Raed said: 'As soon as I saw the pink pajamas, I realized it was my daughter. There are no words to describe how happy I was at that moment.”

From a video released by Jordan's Civil Defense Department, a lifeguard can be seen carefully lifting baby Malak out of a narrow gap in the rubble, while nearby onlookers raised their hands to cheer for the girl. rescued.

Jordan's Civil Defense Department said on Twitter: "The moment baby Malak was pulled from the rubble… it was a moment we will never forget, the 4-month-old Malak baby image will forever be iconic. of hope and life".

Baby Malak's body is fine, with only minor bruises and the baby has been taken to hospital for observation.

Rescue worker Hussam Abboud, 50, said it was a "divine miracle" that the girl was able to live and be rescued .

Ms. Raed's mood was mixed between sadness and joy during this accident. While happy that her daughter was saved, she also felt sad for the victims. The friend who helped take care of baby Malak and your young daughter were killed in the accident.

Currently, the cause of the building collapse is still under investigation, temporarily suspecting to be related to the structure of the building.
