We received the position of the archbishop's curia for Fr. Kamil Ciulkin, who on August 7 this year. in the parish of st. Jadwiga Królowej in Białystok was to celebrate the Holy Mass under the influence of alcohol.
August 8 this year information circulated in the media that the day before, Fr. Kamil Ciulkin, vicar in the parish of st. Jadwiga Królowej in Białystok, celebrated the Holy Mass under the influence of alcohol. That day, after an interview and verification of the charges, Archbishop Józef Guzdek decided to immediately release the priest from the function of vicar of the parish of St. st. Jadwiga Król and referred him to treatment and drug addiction therapy.
On August 31, the local daily "Kurier Poranny" reported that research in a psychiatric hospital did not show that Fr. Ciulkin was addicted to alcohol. Doctors diagnosed him with a high level of stress. It was to manifest itself with imbalance, leg stiffness and body tremors. Due to medical confidentiality, this information is unofficial. Following "Kurier Poranny", it was also mentioned by Aleteia Polska in the text entitled "They made an alcoholic out of a sick priest." The vicar from Białystok was not drunk during the Holy Mass.
Today (6.09) we have received the position of the archbishop's curia in this matter. “The metropolitan of Białystok, fulfilling his duties, made a decision regarding Fr. Kamil Ciulkin on the basis of the collected material, following the procedures of canon law. The Archbishop trusts that the adopted solutions will be good for the community of the faithful and for Father Kamil himself, ”we read in it. The spokesman of the curia, Teresa Margańska, also emphasized that the statement issued on this issue on August 8 remains in force at all times.
Therefore, we apologize for publishing - groundlessly - information that Fr. Kamil Ciulkin did not celebrate the Eucharist under the influence of alcohol. The curia's statement and information provided to us from other sources indicate a high probability of such circumstances. Also, contrary to our misinterpretation, "Kurier Poranny" did not provide this kind of information, but only indicated that Fr. Ciulkin is not an alcohol addict.
