Monsignor Stephen Rossetti is a priest in the Diocese of Syracuse, associate professor of studies at Catholic University of America, and has been actively involved in exorcism ministry for the past 13 years. On the website catholicexorcism.org, he has an article titled “Exorcist Diary #193: Satan Witnesses to the Power of Prayer to End Abortion”, which means “Exorcist Diary number 193: Satan testifies to the power of prayer.” vow to end abortion”.
The local exorcist received an urgent call from the monastery. That morning, the Sisters got up and went down to their chapel. The sisters found their wooden tabernacle upside down on the floor, but the Blessed Sacrament was still intact in the monstrance standing upright beside it. The nuns were frightened.
The doors to the nuns' convent had been securely locked the night before and remained securely locked in the morning. Furthermore, a handful of nuns, all of whom had strong faith, were not awakened by any sound throughout the night. The tabernacle has been fastened to the table and its base has now split in half. Separating the base of the tabernacle and removing it from the table could not be done quietly. It will have to be jerked off its base and make that loud sound. In short, what happened was unlikely to happen normally, as the exorcist was quick to surmise.
If the attack was of the devil, as all signs point to it, why did the demons choose the monastery? The nuns live a short distance from Parliament House and not far from an abortion clinic. The nuns are a quiet presence and clearly pro-life inclinations, actively participating in local pro-life events. In the face of the risk of overturning the Roe v. Wade ruling, some abortion advocates have recently demonstrated in front of the Capitol to protest. Are such demonstrations a prelude to the devil?
Satan's obvious choice to harass these nuns tells us a few things:
* Ability Roe vs. The overturned Wade is a huge threat to Satan's kingdom of darkness. Unusually, it broke out of hiding to clearly threaten the nuns. It must be very desperate.
* The wicked recognize the power of the nuns' prayer and witness, and believe it is necessary to stop them from accomplishing their goals. Perhaps it is such prayer, and other things, that are turning the tide.
* While God allows Satan to destroy the nuns' tabernacle, He does not allow Satan to touch or desecrate the Eucharist. It remains intact and stands upright in space. Jesus is Lord!
First, the exorcist cleans their chapel and house, using Pope Leo XIII's deliverance prayers found in the exorcism ritual. Then he said to the nuns, “These are just antics of the devil. Don't let them scare you. That is Satan's goal: it scares the sisters back. Instead, it suggests that whatever you are doing is spiritually important and that you must do more! Satan's harassment is confirmation to the sisters and the importance of their prayers."
Everything Satan does, much of it happening to his dismay and rage, is a witness to the Truth and a witness to his own destruction. For the victory of the Kingdom of God, only a few faithful hearts are required to devote themselves to prayer and unity in the Eucharist.
