HOT: A Catholic Priest was swept away by floods - Please pray !

 

The Austrian Church is asking the faithful to pray for priest Augustin Kouanvih (60 years old) who was swept away by flood waters on the evening of July 26.

Father Kouanvih left the parish church of Neustift shortly after evening Mass. What is special is that at the end of this Mass, the local government awarded him an honorary citizen badge.

After Mass, he drove back to the parish house in the parish of Fulpmes because the next morning there was a funeral mass there.

Unfortunately, the storm on the evening of July 26 caused the spring water to rise and flash floods, causing the father to be missing until now. The rescue work so far has only found the wrecked car, along with the Bible, the rosary and the father's personal papers.

The underwater rescue found several personal items of the missing person, including documents, business cards and a bible. The mayor of Fulpme, Johann Deutschmann, of the TT said: “We have to consider the worst. According to the police, the search for more pastors has stopped for the time being. The search can only be resumed after the flooded Ruetz has calmed down.

Bishop GP Innsbrück invited the faithful in the diocese as well as the faithful everywhere to pray for Father Kouanvih. We unite to pray for him.

A priest who died on the way on duty is the image of a shepherd sacrificing for his flock, sacrificing himself to serve the flock.

On Sunday evenings, vigils are held for Augustin Kouanvih at all churches in the Stubai pastoral care area. People's sympathy for these devotional activities is great.

Given the tragic circumstances, the rifle battalion festival that was supposed to take place in Fulpmes on Sunday has been cancelled. All other events in Fulpmes and Telfes - including theater performances on the outdoor stage - have also been canceled this week.
