Father Michał in oncology. A brave warrior who passed away in the odor of sanctity

“The son lived his illness and the suffering that accompanied him heroically. But when Michał died on my hands, I had the impression that my heart was breaking physically, ”says our father, Fr. Michał Łos, whose heroic testimony from the oncology department went to all of Poland and beyond its borders.

- Michał has always wanted to be a priest since I can remember. I do not know anymore how many obstacles he had to overcome in order for this to happen - says Mariusz Talarek, a colleague of Father Michał Łos. - He was so convinced in his heart that this was his way and his calling that in the end, even despite a serious illness, this dream came true. Or maybe it will sound better: it has been fulfilled.

I admired Michał for being brave in such everyday life and in the hardest moments. He had a lot of simplicity and sensitivity. He was witty, cheerful, but not playful. Modest and humble of heart.

For some time, before he joined the Orionines in order to have finances to support himself, he simply worked at the cash desk in Biedronka. He respected this job. Anyway, he always had great respect for the people he met. Even if these were difficult meetings, he always said it was meeting Jesus in another person. And the more poor and modest, the closer this closeness, kindness and understanding seemed to Michael's heart.

When suddenly in April 2019 he found himself so unexpectedly at the Military Hospital in Szaserów with a diagnosis of a serious disease, we all fell into a stupor. How could it happen, because Michał seemed to be a good example of health. Here is the shocking news that it is almost the last stage of cancer.

Probably everyone would break down a little, despairing that he had so many plans for life. But not Michał. He had only one dream to "finish this race" and become a priest. The Orionine confreres really showed Michael a great heart by doing everything he could to make this happen.

When I published for the first time the photos of the neo-presbyter Michał lying on a hospital bed clutching a rosary in his hand, I did not think about how hot and great the response from people from all over the world would be.

It was with great emotion that I also shot the first primitive blessing that Fr. Michał sent to everyone to support him in prayer. These photos and the blessing touched the hearts of many. I read various "news" about it, sometimes even unbelievable, such as the publication of a text about Michael as far as Sri Lanka.

In short, we all understood together with Michał how great is the hunger for God and holy priests! And this is contrary to what was happening in Poland at the same time, when we witnessed ruthless attacks on the Church and priests.

Accompanying Michał in his illness was extraordinary, he could talk a lot and write a lot. Heroically and with great dignity, he accepted all the physical and emotional suffering associated with the disease. He enjoyed every moment, neither complained nor complained. Every day he received "pilgrimages" of friends and even strangers who necessarily wanted to visit this extraordinary priest and ask for a blessing.

The most moving event was Michał's reception of the sacrament of priesthood by Bishop Marek Solarczyk. And also the moment when Father Michał gave a primitive blessing to Bishop Solarczyk, his confreres, his family who came from France and us, friends.

President Andrzej Duda also visited the sick Michał. Why? Because it was a dream of a seriously ill priest to meet and talk to the president for a short while. And there was such an opportunity, on the day of Michał's 31st birthday. After expressing his wishes and talking, Andrzej Duda asked the newly ordained priest Michał for a primitive blessing.

Dzięki specjalnej dyspensie uzyskanej od papieża Franciszka Michał Łos FDP 24 maja przyjął jednocześnie święcenia diakonatu i prezbiteratu.

Our friend felt that his young life was coming to an end and he was really resigned to it, he did not rebel. He felt that his life was fulfilled because he became a priest. For many of us, Father Michał left for the Father's House in the opinion of sanctity - concludes Mariusz Talarek

I am talking to Father Michał's dad, Mr. Bogusław. It was already late and together with the priest's siblings they traveled from Kalisz to Warsaw, carrying, among others, cassock for Michał. Despite being extremely tired, we exchange a few words. I say, instead of standard condolences, that Fr. Michael is now a good ambassador to Heaven and pleads for his family and all of us. I add that my son was very brave.

Yes, I know that my son lived his illness and suffering heroically. But when Michał died in my arms, I had the impression that my heart is physically breaking, because it is a hard experience when a child is dying in front of your eyes. And you accompany him in this - says Father Michał's dad.
