A family in Browns Summit, NC, was awoken Monday morning (May 23) by a loud ringing doorbell that gave them time to get out of the fire safely.
Host Sharol Donnell told WGHP News it was God who warned them of the dangers.
“I think it was God who woke us up,” said Donnell. We didn't hear any alarms, no smoke, just the doorbell ringing continuously. There was no one at the door when we ran out of the house.”
When the doorbell rang, Donnell, her husband, and their two children were safely out of the house.
Moments after they escaped the fire, neighbors began to comfort the family, however, no one knew who rang their doorbell.
"Maybe it's an angel," said a neighbor. “I don't know who did it, but if you find them, thank them. I'm just happy that my family is safe and sound."
WGHP reports that it's not just the house that suffered heavy damage from the fire. Vehicles parked in the basement were also damaged.
Although they have suffered a great loss, Donnell says she is grateful they are still alive.
Donnell explains: “You can feel a lot of love from people during the worst of times, and this is the worst of times, but we are still here and I thank God we are still here. alive to stand here.”
